Excelcare SDU

My mother is still in the SDU, slightly better. The nurses here are reasonably good. One nurse, in particular, is really well behaved and always has a smile on her face. There is another one, however, who is extremely zealous about doing her duty properly. If a patient's attendant even looks at the doctor's or nurse's report about the patient, the medicine given etc., she will immediately come and take away the report saying that outsiders are not allowed to read the reports. They must either get permission or simply ask for information and be satisfied with whatever they are told.  These are the sort of nurses who seriously need to learn how to talk to people. The other nurse, on the other hand, is very sweet and polite in her behaviour.

Excelcare SDU

My mother was moved from the ICU to the SDU of the hospital. During the move they needed blood but funnily enough there is no provision for blood donation in this hospital. So we had to go another hospital to arrange the blood!! There are a lot of doctors in the SDU area and there are regular check ups by the doctors. The security staff, though, are pretty much the same as on the other floors. Overzealous in securing the place and extremely devoted to their duty as guards!!!!

Excelcare Hospital, Guwahati

My mother was admitted in Excelcare Hospital in Boragaon, Guwahati on 20th April 2019. Today is the 1st of May, and she has been in the ICU for 10 days. She had a stroke and also some sort of lung infection. She became much better from the 27th and the next couple of days she talked with us and a doctor (Dr. Dhanjit Nath) was even saying that they might move her to a semi-ICU. But interestingly enough, on the night of the 29th April, there were very few patients in the ICU and in the morning we were told that her BP is falling because one of the hospital attendants had forgotten to give her the medicine. Consequently she is still in the ICU.
A patient who was steadily improving for a couple of days suddenly deteriorated!! The ICU charge is Rs. 6000.00/day but the semi-ICU is Rs. 3600.00/day!!
The behaviour of the security staff with patients and their families is thoroughly rude. One female guard in the ICU simply came and switched off the lights without even bothering to ask the people in the room if they needed the light. The attendants of the patients are asked to keep quiet in the ICU but one of their trolleys makes a noise loud enough to wake the dead, but that is allowed. Their signboard reads that no more than two attendants for each patient are allowed in the ICU during visiting hours but the guards only allow one attendant! Clearly, it's not the law that matters, rather the interpretation of the law!!
The AC in the ICU is kept at around 20-22°C, which is too cold for the patients. Then the doctors say that the patient has a cold or an infection and needs to be kept in the ICU.
A patient (my mother)who was talking normally a day earlier and even eating through the mouth suddenly becomes so weak overnight that she can't even talk and barely open her eyes!!
